Standing Hip Thruster

The standing hip thruster is another glute-centric exercise but performed with a cable system. Basically it is a squat. But look closer. The direction of the force is horizontal. Some experts believe that this kind of horizontal force generation translates into faster spring speed.

This exercise has a story. A few years ago, barbell hip thrusters were very popular among young ladies in the gyms. In the barbell hip thruster, you sit on the floor and push up an olympic bar with your hips. Many ladies loved this exercise because it was highly effective at developing the glutes. However, barbell hip thrusters take up a lot of real estate on a gym floor, so gym owners were not big fans of the exercise. In addition, barbell hip thrusters are very uncomfortable. For these reasons, barbell hip thrusters have almost disappeared from gyms.

Our standing hip thrusters is basically the same biomechanics as the barbell hip thruster, but much more comfortable. For this reason, it is sustainable over the long term.
