Spring Bar Pushups

The Spring Bar Push-Ups is an exercise for the arms, but more importantly, it is a stability and balance exercise. Before you attempt the pushups, you should practice balancing in this leaning position. You can think of this position as a plank, but at an angle and balancing on springs. Once you have found your balance, you engage your arms in a push-up movement.

Your abdominal wall, or your core, must stiffen to provide a reliable connection between your arms and the floor under your feet. The ankles are a key part of balancing in this exercise.

The difficulty many people have in this exercise is that they want to bend their body at their hips. However, bending at the hips makes the position even more unstable. For this reason, we challenge everyone to keep their trunk and the lower body aligned in a proper plank.
