The Elephant
The Elephant is another exercise inspired by classic Pilates. In Pilates, the elephant is performed on the reformer. We perform the Elephant on a different apparatus, which we call the carriage and carriage bench, but the biomechanics are basically the same.
The Elephant activates your deep abdominal muscle, called the Transversus Abdominis. Training this specifically abdominal is believed to help reduce lower back pain in some people. Activating your Transversus Abdominis requires a deep mind body connection. Without bespoke equipment such as our carriage and carriage bench, or a Pilates reformer, most people are unable to connect with their Transversus Abdominis.
